Global FORMAT setting

The header and format parameters might also use variables rendering the dc, image and content namespace information. Note, that only bits of interest have been implemented so far and those namespaces might not be implemented fully yet.

Rendering the dc namespace

The following variables are extracting the dc namespace info, that could be used in header and format. Nnote, that some of the variables are already used above. This is done by purpose to use different feeds with the same formating parameters. If there's a conflict the non-dc tags have higher precedence, i.e. a <title> content </title> is prefered over <dc:title> content </dc:title> .

  • $title: channel/article title (dc:title)
  • $creator: channel creator (dc:creator)
  • $subject: subject text; this will also add an image according to the subject hash list, see above (dc:subject)
  • $description: ... (dc:description)
  • $publisher: the channel/article publisher (dc:publisher)
  • $contributor: ... (dc:contributor)
  • $date: ... (dc:date)
  • $type: ... (dc:type)
  • $format: ... (dc:format)
  • $identifier: ... (dc:identifier)
  • $source: ... (dc:source)
  • $language: ... (dc:language)
  • $relation: ... (dc:relation)
  • $coverage: ... (dc: coverage)
  • $rights: ... (dc: rights)

Rendering the image namespace

An image:item is converted into an <img> tag using the following mappings:

  • src: image url (rdf:about attribute of the image.item tag)
  • alt: image title (title)
  • width: image width (image:width)
  • height: image height image:height)

Rendering the content namespace

The variable $content is refering to the <content:encoding> content </content:encoding>.

Bizop

My.biz is celebrating ten years of the .biz (dot biz) domain name. To make a party out of it, they’re sharing the success stories of dot biz domain owners and letting the public vote on their favorite one.

I’m sure you can think of one dot biz domain to vote for. After all, you’re reading one right now.

I’ve been blogging on this domain (www.business-opportunities.biz) since November 2001, and although I’ve been tempted a number of times to switch to a dot com, there’s something downright honest about running a money-making site, about real people making money in the real world on a .biz domain. I think it doesn’t try to trick you into thinking that it’s something that it’s not.

Now that there are hundreds of top level domains to choose from (and soon, an infinite supply), I’m glad to be a dot biz domain, and hope that you’ll support me in the contest.

You can vote for me here.

Same day Delivery

Knoxville News Sentinel:

Chasity Shelby and her husband, Carden, were looking to start a home-based business. A former accountant at the University of Tennessee School of Veterinary Medicine, she wanted to be able to work for herself.

In September, after about a year of planning and research, the Shelby family launched Mobile Market Knoxville, a grocery delivery company based in Karns. The company services customers within a 20-mile radius of the 37930 ZIP code.

“We’ll deliver all the way down to Lenoir City,” she said.

For a $10 delivery charge customers can place orders on the mobilemarketdelivers.com website. A range of grocery products are available priced competitively with local supermarkets.

Online shoppers can select the items they want and schedule a delivery time before checking out using a credit or debit card. Shelby reviews prices every quarter to make sure they still are in line with those in local grocery stores.

Birchbox

Mashable:

While Harvard Business School grads Katia Beauchamp and Hayley Barna were looking for a business idea, they noticed that the beauty product industry was seriously behind the times on the online retail side. They discovered that some of the biggest pain points for customers included the overwhelming selection of products and the inability to get a hands-on experience with the items before making a purchase. With that in mind, they created Birchbox, a company that mails women a box containing four to five deluxe beauty products every month. Their customers can test out a handful of new products from home and brands benefit from follow up purchases when the samples run out.

And yes, the shipping is free.
