DQ2/LRC Ideas

DQ2 DB issues:

  • Can we move to mysql 4.1
  • Rework security model
  • Snapshot mechanism

DQ2 Python Issues:

  • setuptools requirements

DQ2 Code Issues:

  • fts.py now contains hard fix to use edg-gridftp-client
  • How to better customize for sites that change storage locations often
  • How to customize parameters
  • Testing security Model
  • Updates to MySQLReplicaCatalog?.py

LRC Issues: * What version of Apache * What version of mod_python * What version of POOL/SEAL/SCRAM (can we get rid of this)

    • Use existing version?
    • Migrate to newer version
    • Create mini-tar of a usable configuration
    • rework http interface to eliminate POOL
    • remove http interface, update pilots to use MySQL? * What version of MySQL? (4.1 is desired due to pfn name restrictions) * Drop configuration of https/8443 * Deciding what components are needed

Component Listing by function: DQ2 MySQL? v4.0.24 Python v2.3.4 PyCurl? v7.10.6 (OS depedency on curl/curl-config commands) MySQL?-python v1.0.1 FormEncode? v0.4 (has dependency on setuptools) SQLObject v0.7 (has depedency on setuptool) setuptools (need version 0.6.11a or higher)

Items DQ2 expects to see in system: fts-client v1.3 (for now) globus-client (using vdt v1.2.4 as source; too big) myproxy-client (using vdt1.2.4 as source) edg-gridftp-client-* (depends on globus client)

LRC MySQL? v4.0.24 (using DQ2 installation) Python v2.3.4 (using DQ2 installation) Apache v2.0.54 mod_python v3.0.4 (built into Python above)
